One of my favourite things to do is to sit at home and binge on my favourite tv series and movies on Netflix. I realise, i am way over that phase where i could go out at night to socialise until past midnight. The thought of not being home by ten o’clock seems rather dreadful to me and possibly, enough to drain every bit of energy in me and i am not very certain if i should feel sorry for myself. I don’t think i should because truthfully, i am genuinely and positively happy with my life as it is. This is my ‘fun’ although it may have caused a bit of bafflement to some who had said to me that i should go out more and that life is short and that i needed to meet more people and have ‘fun’. Whatever that means. I am sure their heart is in the right place.
If only they knew that i did think of life the same way once upon a time only to realise that that life isn’t for me. Surely, once in a while, i’d love to meet up with my friends over coffee and a great live band and just catch up but that’s just about it. I don’t think i am missing out on life that much just because i opt to stay in bed rather than finding myself getting my ass grabbed in a club and getting hit on by drunkards and waking up in the evening the next day. And truthfully, i just cannot stand trap or trance music in general. I remember making tons of friends back then that i no longer socialise nor i intend to be associated with — the kind of friends that were never there when you need them the most and with that, really, i am fine. Let me just enjoy my Netflix and i am happy that you are happy with your life but let’s face it, that kind of life isn’t for everyone.
Anyway…. here are some of my favourite tv series and some movies i’d recommend!
This is probably cliché but i am not even sorry? Every time i run out of ideas to watch movies or when i feel i needed something mild or light, this is it! Cracks me up all the time.
2. Grey’s Anatomy.
You know, if i wasn’t so afraid of blood and corpse and if i could draw a perfect straight line without a bloody ruler (sometimes even with a ruler), i think i would have become a surgeon thanks to Grey’s anatomy. Although, i must say, Grey’s character can be irritating to the utmost! I mean, could she please for the love of God just stop being so whiney for once?
3. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
Can i just say this movie is just so very cute? The characters are just insanely adorable. It is the kind of movie that will make you sleep with a smile on your face and you kinda surreptitiously wish that you could meet a guy like Peter Kavinsky. The kind of guy that you’d fall in love with. Now if you’ll excuse me, i am just going to watch this teen movie for the third time this week.
4. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
It is one of my new favourites! It is incredibly sweet, undeniably sad, and of course, romantic. It is the kind of movie that will make you laugh and cry. Beautiful setting too which is during and a little after the WWII when Germans invaded their land which is honestly, my kind of movie. Oh and not forget, I love their outfits! I’ve always wanted to become a writer and this movie somewhat reminded me of that bit.
5. Brooklyn Nine Nine
If you are looking for something light, you could binge on Brooklyn Nine-Nine aside from Friends. I would usually just play this on the background while i do my work. It is an American police television sitcom.
6. The Kissing Booth
Another teen romcom you’ll probably love. I wouldn’t say it’s good but it’s alright.
7. Modern Family
Another binge-worthy tv-series. I loveeeee Sofia Vergara!
8. How I Met Your Mother.
I am aware that it is an oldie but it is still a goodie. I kinda despise Ted Mosby because oh my god, who doesn’t. He is very pretentious and pretty much falls in love with every girl he meets which is a bit displeasing to watch but all in all, it’s still a great tv series.
9. The Good Place
It is actually a good tv series. It is about Eleanor who wakes up and finds out that she has died and ended up in an afterlife which, is called the ‘Good Place’. A ‘paradise’ populated by people who have spent their entire lives doing good deeds. It is indeed quite fascinating to watch. I am not going to spoil too much except, i definitely did not see that coming!
10. 13 Reasons Why
A truly controversial tv series but it is a must watch i guess?
11. The Crown
My favourite!! It is a historical drama tv series that focuses on Queen Elizabeth II which is indeed incredibly fascinating to watch. I am a sucker for historical dramas and if you are too, this is a must watch.
Besides historical dramas, i am actually a sucker for crime drama tv series! Sherlock is truly a brilliant show.
Narcos is actually an addictive tv show. My parents aren’t the tv-series kind of people but they managed to finish watching the entire episodes of Narcos in less than a week. And when it ended, both of them kinda pretended that they were drug lords for a bit and started to talk like they were the mafias….
14. Black Mirror
If you haven’t already watched Black Mirror, you definitely should. I hated the first episode because of the pig scene but other episodes were really fascinating. It is intriguing to see how far technology can go.
To be entirely honest with you, there are so many tv series and movies in my list but as for now, i am just going to put a pause right here.
